A listening device was discovered in one of the commandant’s offices of the Ukrainian army.

What should we understand? An eavesdropping device was discovered in one of the future offices of the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, Valeriy Zalouzhny, the Kyiv security services reported on Sunday, specifying that the device was “inoperable.”

“The equipment was not found directly in Valery Zaluzhny’s office, but in one of the premises that he could use for his work in the future,” Ukrainian services clarified in Telegram. The investigation was opened into the “illegal use of special technical means to obtain information,” they added, without providing any information about the origin of the listening device.

No storage, no transfer.

“The device found did not work. No storage devices or remote audio transmission were detected. This technical device will be sent for examination,” the Ukrainian services noted.

As commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny makes decisions on the overall course of operations on the front, under the leadership of President Vladimir Zelensky.

Ukrainian and foreign media have reported in recent months about growing tensions between Vladimir Zelensky and Valery Zalozhny amid the failure of a summer counter-offensive by Kyiv forces and the withdrawal of Western support. Ukraine has been facing a Russian invasion since February 2022.
