Macron calls on Netanyahu for a ‘long-lasting ceasefire’

Emmanuel Macron reiterated his request for a “long-term ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip during a telephone interview with Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday.

During a telephone call with the Israeli prime minister, the French president stressed “the need to work towards a lasting ceasefire with the help of all regional and international partners” in the Gaza Strip, according to a press release from the Elysee Palace. “France will therefore work with Jordan in the coming days to carry out humanitarian operations” in the Palestinian territory.

Emmanuel Macron expressed to Benjamin Netanyahu “his deepest concern about the very high number of civilian deaths and the absolute humanitarian emergency facing the civilian population of Gaza,” the Elysee Palace added.

IDF chief assures that the army is “at a very high level of preparation” on the Lebanese border

Herzi Halevi, the Israeli army chief of staff, believes his forces are “at a very high level of preparation for expanding hostilities in the north” in the face of escalating Hezbollah attacks from Lebanon.

“Today we approved various plans for the future, and we must be ready for an invasion if necessary,” explains Herzi Halevi, according to IDF comments.

The goal is to return tens of thousands of residents who were evacuated from northern Israel due to Hezbollah attacks.
