STRAIGHT. War between Israel and Hamas: Defense Minister unveils post-war plan in Gaza Strip


  • This Friday the war between Israel and Hamas will enter its 91st day.
  • Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said yesterday: “If the enemy thinks of starting a war against Lebanon, our fight will be without restrictions, without rules. (…) We are not afraid of war.”
  • The comments came after Hamas’ number two, Saleh al-Arouri, was killed on Tuesday in a strike attributed to Israel near Beirut. More than a thousand people attended his funeral.
  • The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack that killed 84 people in Iran on Wednesday.

Israeli Defense Minister reveals action plan in Gaza Strip

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant presented on Thursday evening his first “post-war” plan for the Gaza Strip, according to which there will be “neither Hamas” nor “Israeli civil administration” in the territory. Yoav Gallant revealed the outlines of the plan to the press before presenting it to Benjamin Netanyahu’s war cabinet, which has been divided in recent weeks over how to proceed in the war against the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which has held power in the Gaza Strip since 2007.
