The hearing to formulate charges, according to the Public Ministry, will be held in a few hours. The Ecuadorian penal code provides for sentences of 10 to 13 years for terrorism.
The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, decreed after the attack on the television channel that the country is in an “internal armed conflict” to mobilize the armed forces in the fight against organized crime and terrorist organizations and named in his decree several gangs as terrorists.
