21 Houthi drones shot down in the Red Sea

US and British troops shot down 21 drones and missiles fired by Yemen’s Houthis in the southern Red Sea towards international shipping lanes, US Central Command said. US Central Command said no casualties or damage were reported, adding that this was the 26th Houthi attack on commercial shipping lanes in the Red Sea since November 19.

The drones and missiles were shot down by fighters deployed from the US aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower, three US destroyers and the British warship HMS Diamond, Centcom said.

In December, the United States created an international coalition to protect shipping from Houthi attacks in the strategic zone through which 12% of global trade passes.
