War between Israel and Hamas: will the ceasefire proposal succeed?

Could a second truce soon see the light of day? Nine weeks after the first ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which allowed the release of about a hundred hostages, negotiations are currently underway on a new truce draft between Israel and Hamas. The proposed deal was hammered out at a meeting this weekend in Paris between CIA chief William Burns and officials from Israel, Qatar and Egypt. On Tuesday, Hamas said it had received it and was “studying it.”

According to a source in the Palestinian movement, the proposal consists of three stages. The first involves a six-week truce, during which Israel will have to release 200 to 300 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 35 to 40 hostages held in the Gaza Strip. About 130 people are still being held there, about thirty of whom are believed to have died.
