Ecuador cancels its decision to supply Russian weapons to the United States

The government of Ecuador reversed the decision to supply Russian weapons to the United States, confirmed last January by the president of the South American country, Daniel Noboareported this Friday, February 16, the news agency Sputniknews.

According to the aforementioned media, the Russian ambassador to Ecuador, Vladimir Sprinchanreached this agreement after talking today with the Ecuadorian president.

On January 10, the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, confirmed that his country accepted the United States’ offer to exchange old Soviet military equipment for new generation American weapons, worth an estimated 200 million dollars.

Washington said the final destination of the weapons exchanged with Quito will be Ukraine, a country at war with Russia. After that, Moscow announced a series of reprisals against the South American nation, such as banning the import of bananas from Ecuador.
