Chile investigates alleged kidnapping of former Venezuelan soldier in Santiago

The Chilean Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the alleged kidnapping of a former military officer of Venezuelan nationality who lives in Pepper. According to local media, it would be Lieutenant Ronald Ojeda Moreno.

The Special Police Investigations Brigade (BIPE) Anti-Kidnapping of the Investigative Police (PDI) informed, in a brief note, that it is responsible for the investigation, although it cannot “provide further information, as it has been declared secret”.

According to information released by the local press, the victim of the kidnapping could be the former soldier Ronald Ojeda Morenowho was reportedly kidnapped this morning from his home by a group of individuals posing as police officers.

Although the information at this time is confusing, Carabiniers (militarized police) and PI confirmed that they are investigating the allegation that the family of Ojeda before the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Although so far there has been no official statement from any authority, the president of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Tomás De Rementeriasaid – according to the Chilean media – that he will ask “that the authorities of the intelligence agencies be summoned to see the information they have (…) and to find out if the Venezuelan Government was asked if, in fact, this was happening”.

In turn, from the opposition, The far-right Republican Party deputy, Luis Fernando Sánchez, highlighted that the complaint is “very serious”. not only for the kidnapping of a person – he said – but also for the possible participation of agents of the Venezuelan dictatorship operating freely in Chile”, a fact that has not been officially confirmed by any authority.
