Most US Hispanics prefer Biden, but Trump gains ground, according to poll

The majority of Hispanics in U.S prefers the democratic president Joe Biden heading into the November elections, but his likely Republican rival, donald trumpis gaining ground among this electorate, according to a survey by Florida International University (FIU) presented this Wednesday.

The annual survey, carried out by Latino Public Opinion Forumwas presented by one of its authors, Professor Eduardo Gamarraduring a video conference.

Biden and Trump are rejected by the majority of those interviewed as candidates.

When asked whether they should run for president, 44.7% think that the former should not do so, against 34.6% who think so.

As for Trump, 57.2% believe that he should not participate in the elections, against 32.2% who support his candidacy.

Hispanics, traditionally pro-Democrats, represent one in five Americans who could vote in the November elections. Its importance is especially high in disputed states such as Snow fall any Arizona.

Regarding what concerns respondents most, the survey indicates that inflation is the biggest problem in the U.S for 19.8% of them, followed by the economy (16.6%) and immigration, specifically border security (7.5%).

The survey was carried out between November 18 and December 3 with a sample of 1,221 people distributed across the 22 states in the country with the highest concentration of Hispanics. Respondents answered a series of questions over the phone and the result has a margin of error of ±2.80%.
