According to data from the National Disaster Center (Cenapred), after the increase in activity in May and June 2023, from July onwards “several episodes of high-frequency tremors of low to very low amplitude were recorded associated with the continuous emission of ash, sporadic exhalations and low-intensity explosions”. , which generated columns up to 2 kilometers high.

He recalled that during 2024 the activity continued with characteristics similar to those recorded from July onwards, with fluctuations from medium to very low levels and so far this year “24 low-intensity exhalations have been recorded and no explosions have occurred”.

It specified that the dispersion of ash from emissions and exhalations follows trajectories depending on the direction of the prevailing winds at the time of the event; According to today’s forecasts from the National Water Commission (Conagua), they are heading west-northwest of the volcano.
