Boeing records new incident: what other emergencies have these ships suffered in recent times

Boeing, the world’s largest aerospace company, is once again linked to a dangerous incident. after this Monday one of its ships suffered a “technical incident” during a flight from Sydney to Pepperleaving a dozen serious injuries and raising doubts about the safety guarantees it offers after numerous emergencies recorded so far in 2024.

The damage suffered by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner during flight LA800 operated by Latam caused a strong shock on the ship that threw several passengers against the ceiling and caused injuries of varying magnitude to at least 50 of them. Consequently, the plane had to make an emergency landing in Auckland, where 13 people were taken to a hospital for treatment.

A witness told the media that the pilot assured him that he had briefly lost the plane’s instrumentation, an event that experts consider very strange and about which New Zealand and Chilean authorities are already investigating to obtain more details.

This, however, is not the only investigation involving a Boeing aircraft in recent months. Last Sunday, the United States Department of Justice announced that it had opened a criminal investigation into an incident recorded on January 5, when a Boeing plane operated by Alaska Airlines lost a plug that was replacing an emergency door mid-flight.

According to The New York Times, Boeing failed 33 of 89 audits conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) following the Alaska Airlines incident. As expected, this series of events and investigations considerably affected the company’s reputation and stock market value.

After the January incident, for example, Boeing’s 737 Max 9 aircraft was grounded, resulting in losses of up to $13 billion for the company. With the latest incident, this Tuesday the value of Boeing shares reflected a drop of 3.95% compared to the previous day.
