California: man who tried to run them over on a sidewalk was beaten to death

A man died on Saturday after receiving a beating from a group of people who shortly before he tried to run his truck on a sidewalk, crashing into a building in the south of California, reported the authorities.

The man had been asked to leave a business in Hawthorne on Saturday morning and argued with someone as he was walking to his truck, said Lt. Hugo Reynaga of the Los Angeles County Police Department.

The man after he intentionally got his truck onto the sidewalk and came close to running over a group of customers before his vehicle got stuck in a tree, according to the Daily Breeze newspaper.

As customers tried to get the man out of the truck, he accelerated again and crashed into the corner of a nearby building, Reynaga said.

The clients removed the driver from the van and continued to quarrel with him until the Hawthorne police arrived.Police Grace Medrano explained.

Driver suffered blunt trauma to the headMedrano added. He died at the scene.

A security camera recorded the incident, but the images lack sharpness and the fight happened behind the truck, partially out of sight, Reynaga said.

“You could see there was a fight, but it’s impossible to determine who was doing what.”Reynaga told the newspaper.

Most of those involved in the fight were interviewed by detectives and released. pending the result of the autopsy.

Detectives are awaiting the coroner’s result to see if the man may have suffered from a medical problem that contributed to his death during the fight, Reynaga said. The truck collisions “weren’t that shocking.”

The driver was identified only as a man in his forties.
