Attack in Moscow: Nicaragua expresses regret over “terrorist tragedy” in shopping center

“We write to you with a broken heart over the terrorist tragedy that has just occurred in a concert hall in Moscowwhere hundreds of people gathered at an art and culture event”, said the president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, in a letter addressed to his Russian counterpart and ally, Vladimir Putin.

The Sandinista leader highlighted that “terrorist crime has once again taken its toll on innocent people who have been victims of the hatred and confrontation that characterizes Nazism and fascism that continue to threaten the world.”

In the letter, which he signed with his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, Ortega sent his “most energetic condemnation, rejection and repudiation of these methods that have already caused, throughout the world, pain, suffering and loss to so many families in the human community .”

The Nicaraguan leader asked Putin to convey to the people of Moscow, to the families who lost loved ones and to the “friends of those who saw the principles of humanity and fraternity shaken”, his “unwavering support, support and solidarity”.

“Long live the defense of peace in the world, and may God give more strength, strength and blessing to the courageous Russian people,” continued Ortega, who argued that the faith and prayers received provide relief to the families of the deceased and injured. .

Parliament: it is a practice of Western models

In turn, the National Assembly (Parliament) of Nicaraguacontrolled by the Sandinistas, it condemned and repudiated the “terrorist acts perpetrated against innocent people in the concert hall”.

“At this time when the forces of darkness want to disturb the peace of the Eurasian country, we join in the international condemnation and rejection of these cowardly acts that demonstrate hatred against a united people who throughout their history have always shown the olive tree of peace.”

“Attacking innocent and unarmed people is a practice of Western models to sow panic and disturb the tranquility of citizens,” he added about the attack, claimed by the jihadist group Islamic State.

The Nicaraguan Parliament urged the international community to show solidarity and condemn “these acts that show that the ashes of Nazism want to rise again, to alter not only the peace of the Russian Federation, but the peaceful coexistence of our world”.

According to Russia’s Federal Security Service, a group of men with automatic weapons shot at people at the entrance to the shopping center before a performance by the rock group Picnic.

President Ortega is Putin’s main ally in Central America.

Russia is a former ally of Nicaragua that during the first Sandinista government (1979-1990) supplied Soviet weapons to the Nicaraguan Armed Forces.
