In this sense, he highlighted that the “opposition would have up to 10 days before the election to change the name and move forward with María Corina as candidate”.

Article 63 of the ‘Organic Law on Electoral Processes’ establishes that organizations “may modify the candidacies they present and, consequently, replace candidates up to ten days before the electoral event takes place”.

Afterwards, the National Electoral Council (CNE) “will take measures to inform voters” about “the modification or replacement made”, according to the article.

Machado announced this Friday the decision to appoint Yoris as the candidate of the Unitary Democratic Platform (PUD)main opposition coalition, an action that is part of an agreed mechanism to “address this obstacle”, in reference to its disqualification, ratified in January by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).
