Syria conveys its support to Iran and says Israel will not be able to influence its relations

The Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal al Miqdadthis Monday conveyed the support of Syria to Iran following the attack attributed to Israel against the Iranian consulate in Damascus that killed at least eight people, including an Iranian Revolutionary Guard leader.

According to a statement published by the official Syrian news agency FURYthe head of Syrian diplomacy held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahianwith whom he shared Syria’s “strong condemnation of Israeli fascist aggression” against the Iranian consulate building in the Syrian capital.

Al Miqdad considered that this attack is a consequence of “miserable failure”of Israel in the war against the Palestinian people of the Gaza Strip and reiterated that the Jewish State “will not be able to influence relations between Iran and Syria”.

So far, the attack on the Iranian legation in Damascus leaves eight dead, including a brigadier general of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Mohammad Reza Zahediaccording to several Syrian and Iranian NGOs and media outlets.

Hossein AkbariIran’s ambassador to Syria, who emerged unharmed from the attack, told Iranian state television that “There are between five and seven dead. “We cannot provide an exact number until the debris is removed.”he said on Iranian state television from Damascus.

An unnamed military source told the official Syrian news agency FURY that the attack by the “Israeli enemy” against the Iranian consulate building in Damascus “completely destroyed the building and affected everyone inside”, which caused “dead and injured”inside the consulate, without giving further details.
