Russia: Ukrainian drones attack the Tatarstan region, 1,100 kilometers from Ukraine

Several people were injured in a drone attack on factories in the region Russian from Tatarstan, more than 1,100 km from Ukraine, the regional leader’s press service reported.

A source from the Ukrainian Defense sector told AFP that “it was an operation by the GUR”, the Ukrainian military intelligence service, which on other occasions took responsibility for attacks of this type against Russian factories or refineries.

The press office of Tatar leader Rustam Minnikhanov indicated on Telegram that they have registered “Drone attacks on factories in Tatarstan in Elabuga and Nizhnekamsk.”

The attacks “did not cause serious damage or affect the work of the factories,” the statement said.

“Unfortunately, there were injuries in Yelábuga”, he adds.

Near Yelabuga there is a special economic zone that houses chemical, mechanical engineering and metallurgical factories.

Nizhnekamsk has a large oil refinery.

Two people were injured in the Yelabuga Special Economic Zone when two drones hit a house, the local administration said in a statement.

According to the Ukrainian Defense source, the bombing would target a drone assembly factory.

“It was a GUR operation, a Ukrainian drone attack against a Shahed drone assembly company. “Significant damage was inflicted on the site,” said the source, who did not specify whether the attack was carried out from Russian or Ukrainian territory.
