United States: sentenced to death for double homicide in 2006 is executed in Missouri

An American sentenced to death for the murder of his cousin and her husband in 2006 was executed this Tuesday in Missouriin the center of U.Sdespite several requests to commute his sentence.

Brian Dorseyaged 52, was executed by lethal injection and pronounced dead at 6:11 pm local time (11:11 pm GMT) for the murders of Sara Bonnie25 years old, and her husband BenBonnie28, in New Bloomfield, Missouri.

Dorsey pleaded guilty to shooting the couple with a shotgun after they took him in for a night to protect him from drug dealers trying to collect a debt.

The Bonnies’ four-year-old daughter, who was home at the time of the murders, was unharmed.

In a petition to the Supreme Court requesting a stay of execution, Dorsey’s lawyers stated that his is “the rare case in which a person facing imminent execution is unquestionably fully rehabilitated”.
