Argentina: police repress protests against Milei’s policies and arrest 11 people

The Government of Buenos Aires reported this Wednesday that it arrested 11 people and that two police officers were injured, in addition to the smashing of cars, buildings and garbage containers, following a mobilization of left-wing social movements in the capital of Buenos Aires. Social movements reported twelve detainees and a “significant number of injuries” as a result of the “brutal repression”, in which the Police of the City of Buenos Aires fired rubber bullets and threw tear gas at protesters and journalists present at the scene, in addition to collide with fire hydrant trucks.

“The repressive response is consistent with the policy of the Milei Government, whose attacks aim to eliminate all types of social assistance to those who need it, sweeping away the achievements wrested from the State with years of struggle by the piquetero movement against hunger and for genuine work.” , warned a statement from social organizations.
