Close Democratic Party coalition calls on Biden to stop military aid to Israel

A coalition of associations and unions close to the president’s Democratic Party Joe Biden sent a letter to the president asking him to stop military aid to the Israel as long as this country continues to prevent humanitarian assistance from entering the Linkreported The New York Times this Friday.

The letter sent on Thursday night is seen as yet another symptom of the unrest that the ironclad alliance of Biden with Israel is causing at the foundations of Democratic Partyin an election year in which the president’s re-election is by no means guaranteed.

Among the signatories are not only left-wing groups considered radical in USAbut even movements almost “centrists“, as he Center for American Progress or NextGen America (youth group), or majority unions among teachers or public employees.

The main argument of the letter is that USA must comply Foreign Assistance Lawdocument that according to the signatories allows actions against countries that impede humanitarian aid: “American law is clear: countries that obstruct humanitarian aid USA They cannot receive military aid”, say the signatories.

Yes Biden acting in this sense – they add – would send the government and Benjamin Netanyahu “a clear message that you are not above the law and that the United States will not stand by while war kills innocent Palestinians.”

The president of Next Generation America, Cristina Tzintzun Ramíreztold the Times that he clearly understands that the Democratic Party may lose support among young people if it does not change its policy with Israeland they are worried “the moral and humanitarian implications, as well as the political survival of the government.”

The notice of Tzintzun has already been reflected in the Democratic Party primaries in some states with demographic weight from the Arab community, who voted with a message of “without commitment” or “without obligation”, thus withdrawing from the candidate’s Biden.
