When Donald Trump falls asleep during trial

It was difficult for him to keep his eyes open. While the world is closely watching the historic criminal trial that began this Monday against Donald Trump, the main defendant in the case may have found it difficult to become engrossed in the proceedings against him.

According to some journalists who were present in court and witnessed the first-ever criminal trial of a sitting or former president, Donald Trump had great difficulty keeping his eyes open and even fell asleep. “Mr. Trump fell asleep several times, his mouth hanging open and his head falling to his chest,” New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman reported.

It even took him a few minutes to realize that his lawyer, Todd Blanche, was trying to give him the tapes. “Trump seemed to suddenly wake up and notice them,” Maggie Haberman describes in her article, as well as on CNN.

“Sleepy Don”

Because no cameras were allowed in the room during the trial, no images showing the 77-year-old man sleeping could be revealed.

However, this observation, shared by an American journalist, inspired former communications director Joe Biden, who rushed to rename the former president “Sleepy Don,” referring to the nickname the latter proudly gives to the current US president: “Sleepy Don.” Joe”.

Donald Trump is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business documents to conceal a payment of $130,000 (about 122,000 euros) made days before the 2016 presidential election to porn actress Stormy Daniels.

He is accused of making the transfer through his lawyer to buy the actress’s silence about a sexual relationship they allegedly had in 2006, a year after her wedding to Melania. The billionaire pleaded not guilty to the charges.
