In Medellín we work for the respect of women and the good name of the city.
Therefore, at the head of our mayor @QuinteroStreet, we ask @MigrationCol the expulsion from the country of the Dutch tourist who walked with a half-naked woman in Lleras Park.

REJECTION OF THE VICE-PRESIDENCY
The Vice Presidency of Colombia and the Presidential Council for Equity for Women assured this Monday that these events “are serious and warrant forceful actions.”
In a joint letter, they also warned that this type of scene “They reproduce, incite and justify violence against women by promoting the violation of their rights, the damage to their dignity and the normalization of denigrating positions or imaginations that internalize, undervalue and objectify their body.”
They also regretted that these images show women “as an object owned by men” and warned that they can promote sex tourism and trafficking for sexual exploitation.
For that reason, they will request Migración Colombia to “review the seriousness of the events” to “take the sanctions and actions it deems appropriate, including contemplating the deportation of the foreign citizen involved in the events.”
In addition, both instances pledged to work with local authorities in campaigns for the prevention and rejection of violence against women, and to strengthen the use of channels for reporting these types of cases.

SCENE AFFECTS MEDELLÍN IMAGE
Medellin It boasts of being the example of transformation, as it went from being one of the most violent cities in the world and the capital of drug trafficking to becoming one of the most developed and leading cities in Latin America.
For that reason, Mayor Quintero assured that the Dutchman “does not do the country good” because that “is not the fame” they want for the city.
“We put Lleras Park as a main focus of attention because we encountered many difficulties, we encountered prostitution, trafficking in women, abuse of minors”, Quintero added about the strategy to recover this tourist sector.
He also assured that for that area of the city there are large investments and a transformation to “re-signify the space”, for which the request for expulsion, as he stated, is justified.
