Ecuador: another mayor is murdered as part of the “internal armed conflict” declared by Noboa

A new mayor was murdered this Wednesday in Ecuadorwithin the scope of the “internal armed conflict” declared by the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboaagainst organized crime gangs, the main causes, according to authorities, of the wave of violence the country is experiencing.

The victim is José Sanchesmayor of the canton (municipality) Camilo Ponce Enriquezlocated in the southern Andean province of AzuayAs confirmed by the provincial mayor through social media, Jota Lloret Valdivieso.

“Amid sobs and helplessness, municipal authorities have just corroborated the cold-blooded murder of fellow mayor of the canton, Camilo Ponce Enríquez”, announced Lloret Valdivieso.

“We express our deep regret to his family, friends and to his worthy and noble people who elected him, while we demand that the authorities find those responsible for this new crime that Azuay and the Ecuador” he added.
