American ballerinas break world record for most dancers standing on tiptoes

They gave everything to be in the Guinness Book of Records. On Wednesday, April 17, hundreds of young ballerinas met at the Plaza Hotel in New York City to try to break the world record for the largest number of tiptoe dancers.

Inside the prestigious 5-star hotel, 353 dancers had to support their body weight solely on their tiptoes for a minute. An additional challenge was that everyone had to maintain balance at the same time for the result to be confirmed.

The previous record was 306 dancers.

When the organizers of the Youth Grand Prix of America announced a new record, ballerinas from all American states exploded with joy. “I was screaming and clapping. “I was in shock,” 13-year-old Amanda Toledo told the New York Post. I feel proud. “I came here to break the record and we did it,” added 15-year-old Emma Power.

Young dancers from China, Japan, Germany and Portugal also came to participate in the event. “I’m very happy to be part of such a special event,” said another attendee.

The previous world record in the Guinness Book is dated September 10, 2019. About 306 dancers then managed to stand on their tiptoes for a minute.
