The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obradorpromised this Thursday to “take care” of the health and protect the detained former vice president Ecuador (2013-2017) Jorge Glaswho sent a letter to the Mexican president and his counterparts from Colombia, Gustavo Petro, and Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
“Yes, what he is asking for and, certainly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) will establish communication with Itamaraty in Brazil, in Bolivia, with other countries to take care of Glas’ health and resolve his protection, his right to asylum (which was granted to him by the North American country)”, said the president during his morning press conference.

López Obrador responded to a letter read to him by Univision journalist Jésica Zermeño, written by Glas, arrested on April 5 after the raid on the Mexican Embassy in Quito.
