Five military horses escape through central London and injure 4 people

Five military horses escaped Wednesday during routine exercise near the military’s main residence. King Charles III in London and ran wild through the center of the British capital, injuring at least four people and colliding with vehicles during the morning rush hour.

Chaos erupted when the horses, carrying out a training exercise for an important military parade, were alarmed by the noise of construction in a nearby building. Five of the seven horses ran away from the place where the exercise was being carried out in Belgraviaan upscale neighborhood west of Buckingham Palace.

Four soldiers were run over by horses and three of them were taken to hospital with injuries.

The riderless horses galloped through London’s main streets, colliding with vehicles and surprising drivers as they headed to their destinations. The horses were captured shortly after and underwent medical examinations.

Images and videos shared on social media showed two of the horses galloping Aldwychbetween London’s historic financial center and London’s bustling theater district West End.

One of the horses was stained with what appeared to be blood or red paint on the front. The military did not confirm whether it was blood or what caused the injury.

Megan Morawho was on his way to work, told the BBC that he saw that one of the horses had a head wound.

There was a lot of blood”, he pointed out. “To be honest, I was a little worried when I saw the poor horse.”

A frightened horse broke the window of a taxi waiting near the Buckingham Palacewhile another crashed into a parked double-decker bus, causing damage to the windshield.

The horses are from Household Cavalrythe monarch’s ceremonial guard and a regular presence at state events in London.

“All horses were recovered and returned to base,” indicated an army spokesman. “Several soldiers and horses were injured and received appropriate medical care.”
