Voters in the United States are dissatisfied with Biden and Trump as candidates

Just over six months before the presidential elections in USAthe majority of voters are dissatisfied with both the Democratic candidate, Joe Bidenas with the republican, donald trumpand almost half would prefer them to be replaced at the polls, according to a survey published this Wednesday.

The survey, conducted by the Pew Center among 8,709 adults, also found that the presidential race is virtually tied.

49% of registered voters support former President Trump (2017-2024), virtual candidate of the Republican partyand 48% support the president Joe Bidenwho is seeking re-election, Pew said.

A defining feature of the race is that voters generally have little confidence in either candidate on a number of key factors, including fitness for office, personal ethics and respect for democratic values.” noted the Pew Center.

Biden, 81 years old, appears with a certain advantage over donald trumpof 77, with 34% of respondents trusting the Democrat to act ethically in office, compared to 26% for the Republican.

Among racial groups, Pew found that 65% of whites lean toward Trump, compared with 42% toward Biden.

77% of African American voters favor Biden, compared to 18% who lean toward Trump, while Hispanic voters appear split, with 52% on the Democratic side and 44% in favor of Trump.

The survey, carried out between April 8 and 14, has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.

Forty-nine percent of respondents indicated their preference for replacing Trump and Biden before the election, a view prevalent among 62% of those who lean in favor of Biden and 35% of Trump supporters.

Although 42% of respondents think Trump was a good president or even a “great president”, only 28% of voters believe Biden is a good or a “great president”.

With the first of four trials against Trump already underway, 45% of those surveyed by Pew believe the former president broke the law, and another 15% believe he did something inappropriate that does not qualify as a violation of the law.
