Military propaganda or real tactical move? The downside of Israel’s massive offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon

If the calm between Israel and Iran seems very real, clashes on the Lebanese front continue unabated. The Israeli army announced on Wednesday it was carrying out “offensive operations” in the “entire south” of Lebanon, saying its air force and artillery had struck 40 targets with Hezbollah, an ally of Tehran and Hamas. The massive offensive came a day after an attempted armed attack by Hezbollah drones on two military bases in northern Israel.

The Israeli army, through its Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, confirmed that troops had been “deployed in large numbers to the border”, confirming that “half of Hezbollah commanders in southern Lebanon have been eliminated” while “the other half are in hiding.” “Pure propaganda,” a source close to Hezbollah mocked L’Orient-Le jour. The number of Hezbollah members killed “in positions of responsibility can be counted on one hand,” a source in the influential pro-Iranian movement told AFP.
