70-year-old woman refused to leave her daughter alone in a hospital and spent a day in prison in Florida

A 70-year-old woman spent nearly 24 hours in jail in Florida for refusing to leave her daughter alone in the hospital where she was recovering from a brain operation, local media reported on Tuesday.

Lynn Savage, from Jacksonville (northeast Florida), told Action News Jax that she remains firm in her position, despite having left the hospital handcuffed and having been in a cell.

Savage She explained that her daughter cannot speak and is partially paralyzed by a stroke, so her “conscience” and her “heart” dictated that she could not leave her alone and should be with her to calm her down and interpret what she wanted and felt.

“The nurse said that visiting hours would end at 7 in the afternoon and that I had to go, but I said, ‘I’m not going. I want to stay to be here with my daughter. Can you call the doctor? It is he who wants me here with her“, he pointed.

The nurse told her that despite everything she could not stay with her daughter because the anticovid rules prohibited it, but, in view of the fact that Savage she wasn’t leaving, she called security to convince her.

The police intervened and, as they were unable to convince her, Savage was arrested and charged with trespassing on private property.

While in jail, a “horrible” experience that she would not like to have to live again, she told the outlet that interviewed her, her daughter continued to recover from the operation at the UF Health hospital in Jacksonville.
