Five skeletons without arms and legs were found under the house of Nazi leader Hermann Goering.

A terrifying discovery. On February 24, archaeologists discovered the skeletons of five people without arms or legs during excavations carried out at the “Wolfsschanze” (“Wolf’s Lair” in French), the former home of Nazi leader Hermann Goering, located in the headquarters of Adolf Hitler. in the east.

The remains, likely belonging to the family, were discovered during excavations at the site near the city of Kętrzyn in northeastern Poland, where Nazi leaders fought much of World War II around the world.

While a group of researchers led by Octavian Bartoszewski thought that the former home of the founder of the Gestapo had been searched from top to bottom, one of them noticed the presence of a floor in this burned house from 1945. Then he decided to dig and… found a human skull about 10 cm underground, next to water pipes. The team immediately called the police, who rushed to the scene and discovered the remains of five people.

“The worst thing we found”

According to forensic evidence, these are the skeletons of three adults, a teenager and a newborn. “This is the worst thing we found,” said Octavian Bartoszewski. “They were all lying next to each other, facing in the same direction,” he describes.

No traces of clothing or other personal effects were found, meaning the corpses were most likely stripped before burial. Although it is possible that the bones of the arms and legs have decomposed, since they are thinner than the others, it cannot be ruled out that they were amputated.

The discovery remains a mystery, including the identities of the victims, the circumstances of their burial and whether Hermann Goering knew the bones were there when he lived in the house.

Senior Nazi leaders such as Hitler and Goering used this isolated and well-defended location to plan numerous military attacks. It is said that Adolf Hitler spent more time there than anywhere else during the war. It was here that the failed coup d’état of July 20, 1944, known as Operation Valkyrie, took place, aimed at assassinating the Fuhrer.

Hermann Goering, a distinguished World War I fighter pilot who became Adolf Hitler’s loyal lieutenant, was the highest-ranking Nazi official tried at the Nuremberg trials. He committed suicide in prison using cyanide in 1946, shortly before his execution.
