The approval of the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO)rose two percentage points to 60% of citizens in the El Financiero newspaper survey published this Thursday, a month before the presidential elections.
In the measurement made in April, the president’s approval is higher than in March (58%), while 39% disapprove of the head of the federal Executive, a percentage lower than the 41% of the previous month.

Despite its general popularity, almost two in three Mexicans, 64%, disapprove of its management of public security, with a positive assessment of 23%.
Meanwhile, 42% consider their management of the economy “very bad/bad” and 38% consider it “very good/good”.
In the fight against corruption, the president’s main crusade, 54% evaluate his work negatively and 29% positively.

Its best rated area is social support, supported by 57% of the population and disapproved by 28%.
The survey highlights that 48% consider the break in relations with Ecuador after the attack on the Mexican Embassy in Quito on April 5 a “success”, while 34% consider it a “mistake”.
On the other hand, 48% believe that it was a mistake to have given asylum to former Ecuadorian vice president Jorge Glas (2013-2017), which has been housed in the Mexican diplomatic headquarters since December, and only 34% consider it correct.

In general, 39% of the population sees “very good/good” the foreign policy of López Obrador and 36% “bad/very bad”.
The study is published after the start of the presidential campaigns, on March 1, and a month before the elections, when 98 million voters are called to renew the Presidency, Congress and nine state governments.
Last week, El Financiero published a survey in which the presidential candidate of the ruling party Claudia Sheinbaumleads with 49% of preferences, while opponent Xóchitl Gálvez obtains 32% and Jorge Álvarez Máynez 8%.
The survey released this Thursday, which has a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 3.5%, was carried out among 800 adults via telephone calls from April 17th to 24th.
