Noelia Voigt, Miss USA 2023, is resigning seven months after her election, citing her “mental health.”

An announcement that surprised the other side of the Atlantic. Noelia Voigt, Miss USA 2023, announced that she is leaving her post this Monday on her Instagram account, just seven months after taking office. In it, she explains that this “difficult decision” was made in the interests of her “mental health.”

“My journey as Miss USA has been incredibly meaningful, proudly representing Utah and then the USA at Miss Universe (Editor’s Note, in November in El Salvador),” the 24-year-old candidate said in a lengthy statement posted on her account. “Unfortunately, I have made the very difficult decision to resign from the title of Miss USA 2023,” she added.

“I know in my heart that this is just the beginning of a new chapter for me and I hope that I continue to inspire others to remain resilient, prioritize their mental health, advocate for themselves and others by using their voice, and never give up. I am afraid of what the future holds for us, even if it seems uncertain,” Noelia Voigt said on her social networks.

The organization supports its decision

In a statement sent to CNN, a spokeswoman for Miss USA said the organization supported the young woman’s decision to step down, especially because “the well-being of our titleholders is a top priority and we understand that ‘she must prioritize herself in this matter.’ region.”

Let us recall that a little more than two years ago, in January 2022, a tragedy occurred in the organization with the death of Chesley Crist, Miss USA 2019. The latter committed suicide by jumping from the “terrace located on the 29th floor of the building.” The New York building in which she lived.

The Miss USA organization indicated that it is exploring decisions regarding the “transfer of responsibilities to a successor,” which should be announced in the coming days. That could be Savannah Gankevich (Hawaii), who was ranked No. 1 last September.
