Construction of the American artificial port is completed

The US military has completed construction of a temporary artificial port in the Gaza Strip to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, but its installation is currently impossible due to weather conditions, the Pentagon said yesterday.

Faced with Israel’s blocking of aid delivery by land to the besieged Palestinian territory, which is in the grip of a humanitarian catastrophe, US President Joe Biden announced the creation of this temporary structure in early March.

    Israeli Hamas hostage declared dead

The Forum of Hostage Families announced yesterday the death of Israeli-Argentinean citizen Lior Rudayev, who until now was considered a Hamas hostage, but was in fact killed on October 7 during an attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement in Israel and whose body was taken to the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, Israel’s main association of relatives of the hostages announced “with pain and a broken heart that they have determined that 61-year-old Lior Rudayeff “was killed on October 7 and his body was kidnapped to Gaza by Hamas terrorists.’

Egyptian, Qatari and American mediators are continuing talks in Cairo to seek a ceasefire after seven months of war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.

Washington’s response to “concerns” about Rafah

The United States suspended the delivery of a shipment of bombs last week after Israel failed to respond to Washington’s “concerns” about the announced offensive on Rafah, a senior US official said on Tuesday.

The cargo consists of “1,800 2,000-pound (907 kg) bombs and 1,700 500-pound (226 kg) bombs,” a senior Joe Biden administration official said on condition of anonymity.

“We have not yet made a final decision on how to continue this supply,” he added.

    Hi all

Welcome everyone to the live broadcast dedicated to the war in Gaza. Ceasefire talks continue in Cairo, where Israel and Hamas are present.

    Context
    • The Israeli army sent tanks into Rafah on Tuesday and took control of the border crossing with Egypt in the southern Gaza Strip, cutting off humanitarian aid access to the besieged Palestinian territory in an “unacceptable” closure for Washington.
    • Seven months after the war broke out between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, all sides said they agreed to new talks in Cairo to reach a truce, an Egyptian channel reported.
    • On Tuesday, the UN announced that access from Egypt to the Rafah crossing, the main entry point for humanitarian aid vital to the people of Gaza, had been denied by the army.
