Trump asked oil companies for a billion dollars in exchange for eliminating environmental policies

Joe Bidenas reported this Thursday by The Washington Post.

The newspaper said Trump had dinner last month at his residence in Mar-a-Lago Club (Florida) with executives from some of the country’s main oil companies.

During the meeting, the newspaper noted, one of the executives complained that although the industry had allocated $400 million to lobby the Biden Administration, the US Government continued to impose demanding environmental regulations on companies.

Trump’s response to the complaints was to offer the industry to cancel the environmental policies from Biden in exchange for $1 billion in contributions so he can return to office. The White House after the presidential elections in November this year.

Trump added that $1 billion is an amount that oil companies can easily obtain and that they would quickly recoup with regulatory changes that his hypothetical administration would approve.

During his presidency (2017-2021), Trump eliminated or undermined 125 existing environmental regulations. The conservative politician and businessman also described how “fraud“climate change.
