Hamas announces that British-Israeli hostage died in Israeli bombings

The Islamic group Hamas announced this Saturday in a video the death of British-Israeli hostage Nadav Popplewell, who says he died today after injuries suffered a month ago in an Israeli bombing.

In the video we see images, which we don’t know when dated, of Popplewell in apparently good condition, but with a black eye, and indicates that he was inherited a month ago with the kidnapped Judith Weinstein, without mentioning anything about his condition this one.

Hamas highlights that the hostage is the son of Hannah Peri, who was released in the exchange agreement for people kidnapped by Palestinian prisoners last January.

The video ends with an image of Popplewell along with the message “Military pressure = Failure and death”, and one of his mother accompanied by the sign “Barter agreement = Freedom and life”.

Popplewell was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nirim in southern Israel, near the Gas rangea, during the October 7 attack, in which his brother Nadav died.

Of the 253 kidnapped by Hamas, around a hundred remain in the enclave. 36 bodies of hostages also remain in the strip, according to Israel; Likewise, for years there have been two hostages in Gaza and the bodies of two others.

Hamas increases the number of prisoners killed to more than seventy and attributes their deaths to “Zionist bombings”.

The Hamas video comes at a time of maximum pressure within Israel for the government to reach another ceasefire agreement that would allow for the release of more hostages, after negotiations failed again this week, although mediators maintain contact with the parties .

The family and loved ones of the hostages called for new protests this Saturday in several cities across the country.
