US Ready to Vaccinate Children Against Coronavirus As Authorized, Biden Says

The president of the USA, Joe Biden, said this Thursday that the country is prepared to vaccinate against the coronavirus covid-19 to children between 5 and 11 years old as soon as the competent authorities authorize it, because the Government has bought enough supplies to make it possible.

In a new speech on vaccines from the White House, Biden He noted that experts from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will make a decision on the matter in the coming weeks.

  • Russia records double daily record of infections and deaths from coronavirus
  • The country in Europe with the worst source of contagion in the world that lives as if the coronavirus did not exist

“If (these agencies) authorize it, we are prepared, we have bought enough vaccines for all children between 5 and 11 years old” and in this way “families will be able to sleep better knowing that their children are protected,” said Biden.

The US president also expressed his confidence that the FDA and CDC will approve the booster dose in Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines in the next two weeks.

Precisely, the FDA’s expert committee meets this Thursday and Friday to analyze the possibility of such doses.

In the case of Pfizer, booster doses of this vaccine are already available to various groups – the elderly, vulnerable and workers at risk – starting six months after receiving the second inoculation.

Biden expressed confidence that Moderna’s vaccines will achieve clearance so that “seniors and others” can continue to be protected as major holidays in the country approach, such as Thanksgiving (late November).

In any case, the US president admitted that there are still 66 million unvaccinated citizens in the country, a figure that he continues to consider “unacceptable,” and he again appealed to all those who are reluctant to be immunized.

On the other hand, Biden defended his policy of obliging the vaccination of federal workers and also promoting this requirement in companies with more than 100 employees.

He considered that the requirements “are working” and assured that the Government will continue to make all efforts to fight against misinformation about vaccines and encourage Americans to continue immunizing themselves.
