Puente expressed this in an interview with the satirical program ‘Hora Veintipico’, on Spanish radio SER, which airs this Monday, although it was recorded last Friday, when Milei was in Madrid on a private trip.

Last May, Puente sparked controversy when he suggested the “substance intake” by Milei, which led to the first diplomatic confrontation between the Argentine and Spanish governments since the South American president took office on December 10, 2023.

The crisis deepened after Javier Milei sent on May 19th, in Madrid, to the wife of the president of the Spanish Government, the socialist Pedro Sanchesas “corrupt”. Spain recalled his ambassador good air after apologizing, without him doing so.

Puente guarantees that when he spoke about Milei, in a way he was praising him because, he emphasizes, he is “a guy who speaks what he thinks and who today is an asset, a value, because people value not so much what is said, but rather the correlation between what is said and what the character thinks.”

I, Milei, have always been willing to give you a margin like any ruler. This man comes to a Argentina in a very difficult situation (….) and is not responsible for the current situation in its entirety, although now in a small part it is”, says the Spanish minister.

In this regard, he states that saying that there is no longer inflation in Argentina is because “The measures that (Milei) adopted in the few months that he has been governing what they are doing are completely paralyzing the economy”, highlights Puente, and guarantees that the Argentine deficit also disappeared because the State stopped paying.

Puente also criticizes that the government of the Community of Madrid, led by conservative policies Isabel Diaz Ayuso (Popular Party), awarded Milei the International Medal for this Spanish region.

It is an act of provocation by Ayuso’s regular visitors“, what is it “a born provocateur”, according to Puente.

The Madrid president met with Milei last Friday, on Milei’s second private trip to Spain since becoming president, without meeting with any Spanish national authority on this occasion.

In a speech after receiving the International Medal, Milei attacked Sánchez and alluded, without naming them, to his wife and a brother of the Spanish ruler who are being investigated for alleged cases of corruption, in addition to describing social justice as “aberrant”, among other ideas.
