The Ecuadorian Navy said in a statement that the “accident” occurred “during the undocking maneuver” and that one of its tugs sank while trying to help the “Cisne Branco.”

One of the poles of the sailboat, which arrived in Guayaquil on Saturday as part of an international cruise, broke, according to images released on Twitter.

The port captain, Commander Danilo Espinoza, indicated in the same statement that “there are no human victims or injuries and that the respective administrative summary will be opened for the corresponding investigation into this maritime accident.”

The Brazilian Navy reported that the sailboat “collided with a bridge, possibly due to the effect of the current. A local tugboat, which was holding the ship, capsized during this movement. There was no personnel accident ”.

Espinoza added that the sailboat “will be transferred again to the dock of the Yacht Club (in Guayaquil) for the pertinent technical review.”

Also in a statement, the Brazilian Navy confirmed that the large sailboat is safely anchored, awaiting availability of a dock for mooring in Guayaquil, where the conditions of the vessel will be evaluated.
