Child asks the Pope for the skullcap during the general audience at the Vatican

A child with disabilities today became the protagonist of the general audience in the Vatican held by the Pope Francisco, by separating from his mother and taking the stand. Then, he asked the high pontiff for the skullcap, so the pope’s collaborators ended up giving him one.

The boy, about ten years old, took the stand alone and approached the pontiff during the greeting to the pilgrims to ask him for the famous white silk cap worn only by popes.

Francisco took him by the hands, smiled at him, and talked, until the boy sat down in a chair reserved for cardinals before the pope’s amused gaze.

After appearing several times, he left after having obtained the famous skullcap as a gift, after which he sat with his mother, among those attending the audience.

Before beginning the catechesis, the pope commented to the pilgrims: “This child had the freedom to approach and move as if he were at home”He said, “I thank you for this lesson” because “Children do not have an automatic translator from heart to life”, he explained after asking for “May the Lord help him in his limitation and in his growth.”
