A math teacher in Riverside (California, USA) was temporarily suspended from John W. North High School. This after a video of her dancing disguised with a feathered headdress like Native Americans went viral.

Upon learning of the curious strategy that the teacher used with her students, the Riverside Unified School District put the teacher on administrative leave while it is being investigated.
As a half Native American I take this as mean, hurtful, and shows just how much you don’t know about our people. This is sad and shameful.

It should be noted that the entity stated that such behaviors are “Completely unacceptable” and “offend” Native American culture.
However, this would not be the first time that the teacher gives these strange classes, since a student from that school assured that in 2012 she gave a similar class.
“It is damaging and disconcerting to see Native American culture portrayed in such a trivial and insensitive way.”reads the statement from a group of legislators from the California State Assembly.
