Egypt: thief steals cell phone from journalist while broadcasting on Facebook and thousands saw his face | VIDEO

On Egypt, a criminal took advantage of the carelessness of a journalist to snatch his phone while he was making a live broadcast. However, the criminal never thought that he himself would reveal his identity to the almost 20,000 viewers in Facebook after focusing his face – involuntarily – during his escape.

Police used the footage from the video to catch the thief within hours, according to International Business Time.

The event occurred on October 22 when the reporter Mahmoud Ragheb, from Youm7, was surprised by a person who was traveling on a motorcycle during his report on a recent earthquake that affected several cities.

After achieving his mission, the thief took a flight through the streets of Shubra Al-Khaimah -the fourth largest city in Egypt- thinking he had been victorious, but made a serious mistake: he put the front of the phone in the direction of his face.

The assailant had placed the device between his legs and was unaware that they were broadcasting live and that his movements were viewed by thousands of netizens.

Ragheb wanted to pursue the criminal, but let the authorities do their job and get his cell phone back.

“The 35-minute video served to locate and arrest him”, He said Ministry of Interior through a statement after catching the criminal, who had no choice but to acknowledge his actions.
