Russia breaks new daily record with 1,163 deaths from COVID-19

Russia registered 1,163 deaths from COVID-19, a new daily maximum since the beginning of the pandemic, and 39,849 new infections of coronavirus, reported this Friday the country’s health authorities.

For the fourth consecutive day, Russia renewed the record of daily deaths, which for eleven days have exceeded a thousand.

Of the total number of new cases, 3,442 (8.6%) are asymptomatic patients.

Moscow reported the highest number of deaths in the last day, 93, the new daily maximum in the city, followed by Saint Petersburg (76) and the Krasnodar region (42).

The Russian capital added to its statistics the highest number of infections registered in the last twenty-four hours (7,511), ahead of the Moscow region (2,556) and Saint Petersburg (2,452).

Since the start of the pandemic, 236,220 people have died from coronavirus in Russia, although official data on excess deaths in the same period triples this figure.

Russia accumulates a total 8,432,546 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Given the worsening of the epidemic situation, the Russian authorities decreed a week of non-working days from October 30 to November 7, which can be advanced or extended by decision of the authorities of the federated entities.

According to official data, in Russia 50.9 million people have been vaccinated with the complete regimen and 5.8 million have received only the first component of the bidosis vaccines of national manufacture that are used in the country.

Russia is the fifth country in the world with the most cases of COVID-19, behind the United States, India, Brazil and the United Kingdom.
