The motion was presented by Lunkenheimer this Monday, the day a hearing was scheduled in which the eight charges were to be read against Saab, a procedure that was postponed to November 15.

The Prosecutor’s Office indicates in the brief document published in the US electronic judicial system that the petition includes only Saab, and not the other implicated, in reference to the Colombian businessman Álvaro Pulido, included in the same criminal process.

According to the prosecution, since May 2019, more than a year before his capture in Cape Verde due to an order issued through Interpol, Saab is subject to sanctions by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury.

Prosecutors believe that he laundered more than $ 350 million to pay for corruption of the Venezuelan president through the US financial system.
