“Today is a precious day in my life”, Malala Yousafzai got married in the UK

The activist and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize Malala Yousafzai announced their wedding on Twitter on Tuesday.

The Pakistani activist, who survived the Taliban attack for daring to claim access to education, posted images of her celebration Tuesday with Asser Malik and his family on Twitter.

“Today is a precious day in my life,” wrote 24-year-old Malala. “Asser and I have been married to be partners for life. We held a small nikah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send your prayers. We are excited to walk together on the journey that lies ahead ”.

Yousafzai was targeted by the Taliban for their relentless objections to the group’s regressive interpretation of Islam, which limits girls’ access to education. She was shot on her way home from school in Pakistan’s scenic Swat Valley in 2012.

She traveled to the English city of Birmingham for medical treatment and her family caught up with her afterward. She went back to school as soon as she could, but continued to campaign for the right to education of others. He graduated from Oxford in June 2020.
