The Institute of Public Health (RIVM) today documented a total of 3,688 new cases more than yesterday and a much higher number than the average registered last week, which was 12,339 new positives per day, 48% more than the average. from the previous week.

The Dutch Government plans to announce this Friday the introduction of new restrictions, although the members of the Executive have not yet reached an agreement on what measures to apply and will resume their meeting on Thursday afternoon to agree on the scope of the restrictions, which will include consultations with the different mayors.

The outbreak management team (OMT), advisers to the government in the pandemic, have recommended imposing a “limited confinement” for the next two weeks, a period during which events would have to be canceled, cinemas and theaters closed, among the imposition of others. measures for the general population, according to the Dutch television NOS.

In addition, an early closing time would be imposed for bars and restaurants -which must already close at midnight-, a limited capacity, and customers must be seated at the table and not standing.

Last weekend, the reintroduction of the interpersonal distance of 1.5 meters to public space and the use of the covid pass in places such as gymnasiums and museums, as well as hotels and events, came into force.

When the confinement ends, says the UNWTO, the covid pass will no longer include the option of a negative test and it will only be valid to have the complete vaccination schedule or to have passed the covid-19, a controversial step for the Dutch Government because it would mean isolating even more so to people who refuse to be vaccinated.

82.4% of the population over twelve years of age has already received the full regimen, which amounts to 85.9% with at least one dose, according to official data, but it is estimated that around 13% of citizens in the Netherlands they do not plan to be vaccinated at the moment.
