They arrest the wife of ‘El Mencho’, the most powerful drug lord in Mexico and head of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel

The Mexican authorities detained Rosalinda González, wife of the leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, alleged financial operator of the group and accused of organized crime, reported this Tuesday the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena).

In a statement, the Sedena He specified that the woman was captured on Monday by members of the Army and the Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with the National Intelligence Center, in the municipality of Zapopan, in the western Mexican state of Jalisco.

According to the authorities, González’s arrest “is considered a significant blow to the financial structure of organized crime in the state of Jalisco.”

The wife of the Mencho She had already been arrested in May 2018, accused of the same crime, based on an arrest warrant for her alleged responsibility in organized crime crimes for the purpose of laundering money.

On that occasion he was accused of organized crime and money laundering for the CJNG, but she was released months later after posting a bond of about 1.5 million pesos (about $ 72,000).


El Mencho, one of the most wanted criminals in Mexico and the United States, is the leader of the CJNG, considered the cartel with the fastest growth, expansion and one of the most violent in the country.

The Drug Enforcement Agency of that country (DEA) offers a reward of 10 million dollars for information that leads to the capture of Nemesio Oseguera, while the Mexican authorities offer 30 million pesos (1.44 million pesos). Dollars).

Headquartered in the city of Guadalajara, the group operates in at least 24 of the country’s 32 states, with a special presence in Jalisco, Nayarit, Baja California (where it allied and absorbed the Tijuana Cartel, historical rival of the Sinaloa Cartel) , Colima, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Querétaro, Morelos, Veracruz, State of Mexico, Mexico City and Puebla.

The DEA places the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel among the five most violent and dangerous criminal groups in the world. In March 2020, the United States detained 700 of its members in a six-month operation.

On MexicoOn June 2, 2020, the Mexican authorities blocked 1,939 accounts allegedly linked to the CJNG.

And in October of this year, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) announced the block of several accounts, without specifying the number, also allegedly linked to this cartel.
