The country in Europe with 90% of its vaccinated population that reimposes the curfew

The bars, clubs and restaurants of Ireland They will close again at midnight from this Thursday, as confirmed on Tuesday by the Dublin Government when presenting a series of measures aimed at halting the rebound in cases of coronavirus covid-19.

The hospitality industry had recovered its usual hours on October 22, after meeting since January with a curfew set at 11.30 pm, but the evolution of the pandemic is once again “worrying”, declared today the Irish Prime Minister, Micheál Martin.

Its Executive, a coalition between centrists, conservatives and greens, has also agreed that, as of Friday, workers must carry out their jobs from home, unless their presence in offices and other workplaces is essential.

In addition, It will be mandatory to present the European vaccination certificates in cinemas and theaters, as it already was in all the hospitality industry, although gym and hairdresser clients will be exempt.

Martin insisted today that the Government is obliged to make these decisions for “the whole of society”, but urged citizens to limit “their contacts and social interaction” since the “situation is getting worse and will get even worse before it improves” .

The local media assure that the Irish Executive believes that it will be necessary to introduce more restrictions in the coming weeks, although Martin himself has indicated that does not contemplate decreeing confinements for the unvaccinated in this country, where more than 90% of those over twelve years of age are immunized.

The latest official figures confirmed this Monday that 4,570 new positives of covid-19 in the previous 24 hours, while the number of hospitalized rose to 622, 40 more than on Sunday.

Of that total hospitalized, 117 are in intensive care, which means that the capacity of this type of unit is close to the limit, as the National Health Service (HSE) has warned.

The cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants has also increased sharply, now standing at 1,146.4 cases in fourteen days, almost double than at the beginning of the month.
