Argentina: An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 shakes the province of Santiago del Estero

An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale shook the province this Wednesday argentina from Santiago del Estero, in the north-central part of the country, with no reported victims or material damage.

According to the National Institute for Seismic Prevention (Inpres) of the South American country, the earthquake occurred at 18:38 local time (21:38 GMT) and took place at a depth of 614 kilometers.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 173 kilometers northeast of the capital city of Santiago del Estero (1,100 kilometers north of Buenos Aires), 195 kilometers east of the city of San Miguel de Tucumán and 44 kilometers west of the town. Santiago de Campo Gallo.

Media from the province of Santiago del Estero indicated that no damage or injuries have been reported at the moment and indicated that, due to the depth of the earthquake, the tremor was practically not perceived in the provincial capital.
