Slovakia imposes restrictions on the unvaccinated following the Austrian model

Slovakia It will limit as of Monday the movement of the unvaccinated – who will not be able to enter restaurants, non-essential goods stores, shopping centers and attend sporting and leisure events – following the Austrian model.

Slovakia has the third lowest vaccination rate in the European Union, with 45% of the population on the full schedule, and many Slovak hospitals are at capacity limit due to the latest wave of the pandemic.

With the new rules approved, only people who have been vaccinated or who have passed the covid in the last six months they will be able to enjoy leisure activities, attend public events and enter bars and restaurants.

“As Prime Minister, I have a responsibility and I do not want to play with the lives of citizens”, declared this Thursday the head of the Government, Eduard Heger, when announcing the measures in a televised intervention.

The restrictions, which will take effect on Monday for three weeks, echo those adopted in neighboring Austria since Monday.

In Austria, the unvaccinated are even limited to leaving the home, except if it is to work, help third parties, make basic purchases and go for a walk.
