Venezuela repudiates Iván Duque’s criticism of regional and local elections

The chancellor of Venezuela, Félix Plasencia, on Tuesday repudiated the statements of the Colombian President, Iván Duque, who described the regional and local elections held last Sunday in the Caribbean country.

“It is a chronicle of an announced fraud. Once again the same thing happens, an election manipulated by a regime that controls absolutely everything, that keeps everything, that has control of the judiciary, that they have control of the electoral power, that ended private initiative and once again continues capturing regional power, ”Duque said, according to a review by W Radio Colombia.

The president of the Andean country added that in order for “true elections” to be guaranteed in Venezuela, presidential elections must be held “with the meticulous supervision of the international community,” an observation that the regional and local authorities had on Sunday.

Following these statements, made on Monday, Plasencia recommended that Duque take his time to address the “multiple” problems of his country.

“The greatest fraud in Latin America speaks, whose legacy is the betrayal of the peace accords and the murder of hundreds of social leaders. Mr. Patraña, occupy the little time that you have left in Nariño to attend to the multiple problems that afflict the Colombian people, ”Plasencia wrote on his Twitter account.

Of 23 states in dispute in the regional elections of Venezuela, 21 already have final results, and 18 of them were won by Chavismo, three by the opposition and two are not yet defined.

In addition, the ruling party also won the local elections by winning 205 mayors out of the 322 that already have confirmed results, out of a total of 335 municipalities that make up the country.
