Brazil registers 4,043 new cases and 92 deaths from coronavirus in one day

Brazil registered in the last 24 hours 4,043 new cases and 92 deaths associated with covid-19, the second lowest number of deaths in one day this year, according to the figures released this Sunday by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).

The number of deaths in one day is the second of the year, after the 59 reported on Sunday, November 7.

Despite the low averages, the country is on alert for the new “omicron” variant, of which its potential and resistance against vaccines are unknown, and on Saturday it expanded to 10 the list of African nations with restrictions for their travelers bound for Brazil.

Angola, Malawi, Mozambique and Namibia joined South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) on the list of countries with closed air borders with Brazil.
